Love Isn't Binary

You made a rainy day sunny
You became my lovely fresh start
You gave me all of your money
But you didn't give me your heart

For you, I put on a pretty dress
But you make it feel transactional
You'll never be impressed
You're too obsessed with the rational

I hear the poetry
In a raven's call
But all you hear is a bird
Singing in fall

I asked you what magic was
But you didn't seem to recall
Once you said I put on a spell
But I guess 'twas a spell of alcohol

You can take back your gems
And all those chocolates & roses
I want us to not pretend
'Cause that's how love decomposes

I know that I sound greedy
When you have nothing left to impart
I'm not really that needy
But honey, I do want your heart
