When thoughts have all fled

I think of you

When all around is dark

I still see you

When silence is all I can hark

I listen for your beating heart

When I think of my reason

You were it from the start

But now you're out of sound

Out of sight

Out of reason

Out of life

If I forget your face

Or the way you readjust your glasses

Or how you fix your hair in a bun

Or how sweet your laugh is 

Or how you fill me with pink bliss

Or how you play with the kids

Or how when you're not around,

I notice...

But now all I can do is miss

Miss your warmth

Miss your support

So on & so forth

So if we ever meet

After oh so long years

When my withering heart

Is tired of pumping tears

I'll confess

What time does to wine"
