The Hoary Gentleman
In the very beginning
I believed that Boogie Man was true
And now that I'm ending
I know that Boogie Man's true
I can't remember well
My mind's a torn tome
My neighbour helps me in
Back inside my home
I think I was once married
A long time ago
Was it a daughter that she carried?
Lord, I don't know
I wasn't very young
But I didn't lose my soul
I used to be so fun
Now I was busy playing old
Dust on my toothbrush
And the dry shower head
Flames licked at my feet
And my tooth did bled
She wasn't born too late
It was I who was early
I know I wasn't there
When she really needed me
But I did lose the key
For my heart's little door
Can you help me find it?
I'll be grateful, forevermore
Hey Boogie Man
Don't you Boogie no more
We have played enough
Now it's time to go home
